Do You Accept My Insurance?

This is a common question that I get asked in my practice, so I thought I would take a little bit of time to answer this question and explain what sets us apart at Enhance Performance Therapy. So...Do we accept your insurance? The short answer to this question is "No." However, we will provide you with the necessary documentation to self submit a claim to your insurance company, and we can walk you through this process if you so choose. Now you may be thinking, "I will just move on and call somewhere else that does take my insurance." And that's ok if that is your determining factor; however, I encourage you to keep reading to learn why we feel it is in YOUR best interest that we do not accept insurance and why we ultimately made the decision for our practice to follow the cash-based model.

  1. More 1-on-1 Care With Your Physical Therapist. Unfortunately, in the insurance world, reimbursement to providers is going down despite your premiums and deductibles going up. In turn, this has meant that "In-Network" Physical Therapy clinics have had to increase the number of patients they are seeing to meet the same bottom line. What this means for you is shorter appointments and/or sharing your time with your therapist with another patient, which means you are not getting the high quality, individualized care you deserve. I unfortunately experienced this first hand at my former place of employment, which is a large reason behind starting Enhance Performance Therapy. I knew that I was no longer able to give my patient's the type of care they needed and deserved in that type of a model. At Enhance, you will get 1-on-1, 60 minute sessions with your Physical Therapist and access to your therapist for questions or assistance outside of regular business hours, which allows us to deliver long lasting results.

  2. No Restrictions in Care From Insurance Company Regulations. Insurance companies provide a number of different regulations in how I as a therapist can treat my patient. Including billing regulations that can alter the types of treatment you receive and/or prevent you from receiving a beneficial treatment technique. Another common regulation is only being able to treat "one body part." At Enhance, we believe that our patients are more than just their affected body part and that it is important to treat the body as a whole. Our body parts do not function in isolation and also there are a lot of underlying factors (sleep, diet, stress, etc.) that impact a patient's recovery process. We feel that it is important to address all of these areas in order to provide the highest level of care and deliver long lasting results.

  3. Save You Time. Also with the in-network model, the typical plan of care for a non-surgical condition would be 2-3x/wk for 6-8wks (12-24 sessions). However, since Enhance's model allows for more 1-on-1 treatment, individualized recovery plans, and accountability with your home exercise program, we can typically achieve the same results with 1 session per week for a total of 6-10 sessions. This means that you have to take less time off from work or away from the activities that you love to attend your Physical Therapy appointments.

  4. Save You Money. The average health insurance deductible in the US in 2019 was $1655, meaning that you are responsible for paying this amount prior to insurance covering any portion of your medical expenses. On average a typical plan of care in Enhance's model is 8 sessions, which costs $1075. This price difference in combination with having to take less time off of work (potentially having to tap into your PTO) and not having to take away time from your activities or family is a no brainer in our opinion. Also, there are no hidden fees and you won't receive a bill in the mail long after your treatment if over for additional costs your insurance didn't cover or for a claim that was denied by your insurance company.

While there were also some business decisions that factored (decreased overhead, no hassle with insurance companies, no claim denials, etc.) into our decision to follow a cash-based model, ultimately the decision came down to how we want to be able to provide our service to our patients and give them the care they deserve in order to deliver the results they want. At Enhance Performance Therapy, we work for YOU not the insurance company!

Hear below from some of our clients on their experience working with us:

Annie W. (CrossFit): "Keeping optimal performance since I've started doing CrossFit has been a challenge. Last week I tweaked my back and announced it on social media for some help, Kassi reached out immediately and provided me with suggestions and videos from EPT's library. While working from home I immediately implemented the exercises and the improvement in my back was immediate. I can't wait to work further with a business that goes above and beyond for their community."

Laura B. (Powerlifter): "Kassi was my physical therapist following a substantial injury from playing roller derby. I had a trimalleolar fracture and according to one ER nurse, "a gnarly dislocation." Immediately I felt at ease. Her professionalism and bedside manner was excellent. Not only was she getting my atrophied leg some muscle, but she was also teaching me how to take care of it. She was truly setting me up for success. Since Kassi had fun making me do 120 BOSU squats, my love for building my strength grew as quickly as my calf muscles did. Kassi helped me get my ankle flexible enough that I started doing barbell squats. Those barbell squats turned into USPA Powerlifting, and now after 4 years of hard work, I hold two state records and a deeper appreciation for Kassi's work. I wouldn't have been as successful without her."

Angel C. (High School Athlete): "Kassi was an all around great physical therapist.  While I was working with her, not only was she very helpful, she was understanding and motivated me more than anyone else at the time of my injuries. She was the main reason why I recovered. She would take a lot of time one-on-one with me to make sure I was doing everything right, so I could get back to playing the sports that I loved to do. She was able to adapt and help me in different areas that I didn't know how to work on my own. Kassi is very knowledgable and was able to answer every question I would ask her. She is the best physical therapist that I have ever had."

Tracy G. (Kayaking/Outdoor Activities): "Kassi is my physical therapist now and forever! Great person, great knowledge, individualized care, and you do not leave her until you are doing more than you came in thinking you would be able to do. You will want to improve (and will work to) between session because Kassi knows you can, believes in you, and she expects you to."
